Our Course

The course always starts with a “mapping” of each interested person, so that we can assess the level and profile of each student and student.

The mapping itself is already done in a unique way, so that we can be as assertive as possible in this first step, since it is one of the most important. After separating the level and profile, we already understand the need for the starting point, if it will be something more beginner needing to review structural information of grammars and basic rules of the language, to later enter more sharply in the audiovisual part of the course, or if already there is a viable option of group or classes that the student or student can already fit in and start the course, having the initial and structural part more quickly.

Passed by the initial part, the classes then start to be based on video materials, where the topics of English appear naturally and organically, being explained with the help of a scene, or a piece of music and, among others, so that the student develops his speech, vocabulary, listening and more.

This intermediate process may be the one that takes the longest to complete. Once it is finished, little by little we begin the transition to conversation classes, where basically every week a video with a new and different theme comes up for discussion, so that the vocabulary of the video is extracted and explained and also debated. among students.

It is here in this part where the course actually becomes a hobby, a meeting of people who want to talk about different subjects in English and also learn new things !!

The SELF methodology was created from the observation of most of the past and frustrated experiences of the people who came to us to start the course.

The speech is always very similar, with phrases like "the method that the old school did not please me" or "I can even read and write, I understand little, but I hardly speak ...". And it was these observations that brought us here, to use films and series, music and videos, to transform the class into something more pleasant for the student, besides, having an almost unitary focus on audiovisual materials, helps, and a lot, in the process of starting to understand better and talk more!

Let us make a simple analogy: When a small child begins to develop communication skills, after gesturing, the first thing a child learns is not to read or write or to speak, he learns to understand from all the sounds that he he listens, and little by little the speech process happens, both by custom and insistence. And in English, the process is very similar for you, speaking non-native, who want to start the journey in English. Understanding that LISTENING is the most important step in this process within our method, that CONSUMING a lot of audiovisual material, is crucial to achieve success.
